10 Bible Verses to Help You Navigate Life

10 Bible Verses to Help You Navigate Life.png

I feel like every Christian has bible verses that they use to help them through difficult situations. Or even just as mantras to help them get through the day in a positive light.

This week I had an entirely different post planned, but the post I was going to write was weighing very heavily on my shoulders. I was dealing with anxiety and stress reliving the situation I was going to talk about. While I was feeling so down, I was drawn back to a few bible verses that brighten my spirit.

After reading the bible verses I felt refreshed and a little more at ease.

I think that was God’s way of showing me that THIS was the post I needed to write this week. That maybe someone else out there could use these reminders to help get them through a tough time, or encourage them even when things are going well for them.

Please remember, I am not a professional. I read the bible and sometimes a verse speaks to me in a way that maybe it wasn’t intended to in it’s context. If you read these verses and take something else out of it, that is fantastic! Please share your thoughts with me, as I would love to hear your thoughts on these passages. But please remember that we can all interpret these verses in our own ways (as long as it still goes along with Christian beliefs).

Along with each verse, I made a picture to go with it. All of these are my own drawings or designs, so if you do want to share it just make sure to give me credit. Thank you! Now, let’s get on with this post!

1 Corinthians 16 14.png

“Let all that you do be done in love.” - 1 Corinthians 16:14

I try to remind myself of this verse every day. This verse reminds me to take a step back and evaluate what I am doing, and why I am doing it. I try my best to be a kind and loving person, so this is always a great reminder for me. Not only that I am doing the “right” things, but that my intentions behind them are also coming from the right place.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven.” - Matthew 5:!6

If you are a Christian, you need to make sure you are showing God’s love whenever you can. No, you don’t have to be perfect, but just try your best everyday to be loving and kind to the people you meet. You never know whose day you may brighten.

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.” - James 1:19

I have a temper. It can get so bad sometimes! This is a verse I tell myself on repeat when I am frustrated with someone. When you are angry it is so easy to say things you don’t mean. In situations where you have lost your temper, take a step back, breathe, remember this verse, and really think about what you are going to say before you say it!

“Do not be worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.” - Philippians 4:6

My oh my, does this verse speak to me.

As someone who suffers from crippling anxiety, this is a verse I try to remind myself every day - multiple times a day - sometimes even multiple times an hour. Remember that everything will work out the way it is supposed to, and you need to trust God. In the moments when you are stressed out and anxious, speak to Him and He will calm your worries.

Philippians 4 13.png

“I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” - Philippians 4:13

I have heard so many people interpret this verse differently, but the way I see it is you can get through those hard times with God by your side. In those moments where I need strength to do certain things, I remind myself to take a moment and pray to ask God to help me. Whether it is dealing with a tough moment of parenting, or dealing with a crippling diagnosis of a family member. God is there, He is listening, and He will give you the strength to get through whatever trial you are going through.

Psalm 23 4.png

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.” - Psalm 23:4

It is so hard for me to describe what exactly this verse means to me. I think this is one that every Christian can relate to a specific time in their life. I tried to remember this verse when my depression was at it’s lowest point. That even though I was going through a difficult trial, God was with me and I would get through it.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” - Isaiah 43:2

Another verse about God being with you during difficult times? Yes. Because these verses have been so important to me in my life. This verse reminds me of the song “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” and that song SPEAKS TO ME. I feel it in my soul. Remember that when you are going through any trials, God is with you. It says it time and time again in the bible. He will not forsake you, He loves you, and He is with you.

John 16 33.png

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33

This verse comforts me in a way that is super hard to explain. I will try, but it will probably sound strange the way I explain it. I interpret this as saying that trials and difficult times are going to happen in our lives, so it is important for us to remember that this life is only temporary. God is ultimately in control so we need to put our faith and trust in Him. And if/when it doesn’t end up the way we wanted it to, we need to remember that every trial is something we can learn and grow from.

John 13 7.png

“Jesus replied, ‘You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.’” - John 13:7

I interpret this in my own life as being a reminder from God that you don’t know why you are going through a specific trial, but good will come of it. No matter what the situation is, there is always something you can learn or grow from, or a way where you can help others.

Luke 23 34.png

“Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” - Luke 23:34

This verse reminds me to be forgiving and understanding. That if Jesus could say this while He was being crucified, how can I be so unforgiving when someone says something rude or does something that isn’t very nice? This is such a reality check for me.

As you can tell by this blog post, I wasn’t lying when I said that I wasn’t a professional.

Writing is my passion, but for some reason I have such a hard time explaining my thoughts on bible verses. So I decided to give you a quick run-down on my feelings. And I will remind you that these are strictly my interpretations.

I pray that these bible verses help someone out there who needs a little encouragement or a reminder that God is there for them.

Love,

Lily
